Vayu wins verve cup & 40.7 north american championship

(Sunday, August 22, 2010)    The lead position changed three times on the last race of the eight-race Verve Cup Regatta and was finally won by Ron Buzil’s Vayu.  By winning the race Vayu won the regatta, and along with it, the Beneteau 40.7 North American Championship.
 
“That last race was extremely exciting for us,” said skipper Ron Buzil. “We were in third place behind Collaboration and Das Boot at the weather mark but the pack of us three had a good lead on the rest of the section.  (more...)

(Saturday, August 14, 2010)  With two Area III regattas completed the last two Saturdays, the Boat of the Year competition is heating up. Das Boot and Vayu are tied for first place with the tie-breaker going to Das Boot. But La Tempete, Turning Point, and Collaboration are all within 6 points of the leaders and with possibly eight races to go, anything can happen before the season ends on September 26th. (more...)

Winning 40.7's Excalibur and Collaboration(Monday, July 26, 2010)  The “Lake Fox”, Robert Vickery, sailed his boat, Collaboration 2, to victory in the Beneteau 40.7 section on the 102nd race from Chicago to Mackinac Island. Mojo, with co-skippers Gary Powell, Scot Ruhlander and Jeff Comeaux finished in 2nd place about eight minutes behind Vickery. Dave Tarson’s Excalibur finished in 3rd place, twelve minutes behind the leader. Thirteen boats of the Lake Michigan Beneteau 40.7 Fleet participated in the race. (more...)

QUEEN’S CUP NIGHT RACE ACROSS LAKE MICHIGAN WON BY JAY MULLER’S DAS BOOT

(Saturday, June 26, 2010)  How much better does it get? A 68 mile race across Lake Michigan on a summer night. Course almost due east. Wind mostly south to south-southwest at 14 to 18 knots. Put up the assymetric spinnakers and fly!
     With the reaching conditions that prevailed for the Queen’s Cup, Jay Muller’s Das Boot pulled significantly ahead of the rest of the section and crossed the finish line five minutes ahead of the 2nd place boat, Bob Vickery’s Collaboration 2, who in turn was only 50 seconds ahead of the 3rd place boat, Ron Buzil’s Vayu. Collaboration on the 2nd race on Saturday(Sunday, June 13, 2010)  Bob Vickery’s Collaboration 2 won the Beneteau 40.7 section at the Chicago NOOD Regatta 2010, and because the 40.7’s were judged the most competitive section at this 156 boat event, Collaboration was named the overall winner of the regatta. Ron Buzil’s Vayu finished in 2nd place, just one point behind CollaborationMojo, under co-skippers Jeff Comeaux, Gary Powell, and Scot Ruhlander, tied with Tom Weber’s La Tempete for 3rd with the tie-breaker going to Mojo(more...)

 


Colors 2010

Vayu Triumphs at Colors

 

Just after the start of the 2nd race on Saturday(Sunday, June 6, 2010) Vayu won first place in the Beneteau 40.7 section at Columbia Yacht Club’s Colors Regatta held over Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6th. This is the only one-design class event of the year for the Lake Michigan Beneteau 40.7 Fleet in which any professional sailors are allowed aboard the boats as crew. One pro is allowed per boat. (more...)
