The Lake Michigan Beneteau First 40.7 Fleet is the governing organization for the owners of the Beneteau First 40.7 sailboats in the Lake Michigan Sail Racing Federation, Area III.  The purpose of the Fleet is to enhance one-design amateur sail racing while maintaining safety, the pleasurable aspects of the vessels and limiting associated costs.

COLLABORATION II MAKES BIG COMEBACK

Aboard Excalibur, early Monday evening(Tuesday, July 22, 2008) At 7:32 PM Monday, July 21st, Jim and Dennis McDonnell's Spanker crossed the finish line to win 1st place in the Beneteau 40.7 section of the 100th running of the Chicago to Mackinac Island Race. Spanker's elapsed time was 54 hours 42 minutes 2 seconds. On corrected time, within the 180 boats of the Mackinac Trophy Division, Spanker placed 20th. This is the second time in a row that the McDonnell brothers' Spanker has won the 40.7 section of the race to Mackinac Island. (more...)

That was Clem Boltz answer to the question of why he took his boat Cancan deux along the shore to win the Chicago to Waukegan race on Saturday, June 21st. NOOD WINNER AND 40.7 NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION: TURNING POINT

Just after the 1st start on Saturday morning, (L-R) Mojo, Excalibur, Turning Point(Sunday, June 15, 2008) Co-skippers, Bill Bartz and Dave Hardy of Turning Point are no strangers to victory at the NOOD regatta and they did it again in a resounding triumph over mostly well-sailed competition this weekend at Sailing World's annual Chicago National Offshore One Design (NOOD) Regatta. Bill and Dave, sailed together aboard the venerable Finesse, and on her with owner Alan McMillan, won the NOOD regatta twice before in 2002 and in 2004 and placed 2nd in 2003 and 3rd in 2006. Race 4, the fleet going downwind in a breeze(Sunday, June 8, 2008)  Turning Point skippered by Dave Hardy won the Beneteau 40.7 section of Columbia Yacht Club's Colors Regatta.  The four-race event was held on a windy Saturday and Sunday, June 7-8th, and took place on southern Lake Michigan a few miles east of downtown Chicago.  (more...)

IT'S COLLABORATION AT THE OLYMPIC CUP

Aboard Das Boot going downwind, 1st race, 2nd downwind leg(Friday, May 30, 2008) On Sunday, May 25th, Bob Vickery's Collaboration won the Olympic Cup Regatta for the Beneteau 40.7 section. This event, the first regatta of the year that is included in any season series, counts for both the LMSRF Best 40.7 on Lake Michigan series and the Area III Buoy Boat of the Year series.
